Each room is wired for a 100 MB/s high-speed, fiber-optic Internet connection to the University of Illinois. All rooms are large, carpeted, and air-conditioned with semi-private baths. Full time maintenance and house keeping staffs are available to quickly handle any maintenance problems and provide bi-weekly cleaning of rooms.
EAST ROOMS
The East Rooms are tastefully furnished with extra large desks, beds that double as couches during the day, chests of drawers, and two very large floor to ceiling wardrobes that can lock. All rooms are carpeted and air conditioned. Temperature control in the east building is controlled by 'quadrant', which Resident Advisors and Maintenance Staff can adjust as needed.
The east building has approximately 40 residents per floor, which is very conducive to making new friends, while remaining consistent with the overall more studious and quiet Hendrick House standards.
WEST ROOMS
The West rooms (See photos here) have a desk built into the spacious bay window area for ample space to accommodate computer equipment and other desk amenities; captains beds with drawers underneath and a double dresser, both constructed of solid oak; built-in adjustable bookshelves; and two roomy closets. The West rooms also have individual temperature controls.
The west building has 10 stories with 6 rooms per floor. The rooms are spacious and modern with a lot of storage and studying space.
ROOM ASSIGNMENTS
Numerous questions are asked on the application to help in matching roommates. Students may request their own roommate and every possible effort is made to accommodate those requests. Complete information is necessary to make the best possible roommate selection.
FURNISHINGS
In addition to the room furniture, Hendrick House provides each student a mattress pad, telephone, toilet paper, and wastebasket. Students should bring a pillow, blanket, sheets and pillowcases, towels, bedspread, soap, laundry detergent, personal items, and a small study lamp for the bedside.
HOUSEKEEPING
In addition to maintaining the common areas of Hendrick House, our full time housekeeping staff also visit your room weekly for cleaning. They vacuum, take out the trash, clean and disinfect your bathroom, add toilet paper and do light dusting.
